🥚 BREEDING CALCULATOR
Pokémon breeding calculator.
Check breeding compatibility, find egg group matches and calculate IV odds, shiny rates and inheritance across Gen 2-9.
Common questions
Which Pokémon can breed together?
Two Pokémon can breed when they share an egg group and can be opposite genders. Ditto breeds with anything that is not Undiscovered, and genderless Pokémon only breed with Ditto.
What does the baby inherit?
The baby is the lowest evolution of the mother's line, or of the non-Ditto parent. It inherits three IVs from its parents (five with a Destiny Knot), a nature if a parent holds an Everstone, and moves the parents know that are on its egg move list.
How does the Masuda method work?
If the parents come from games in different languages, extra shiny rolls apply. That raises the odds from 1 in 4,096 to about 1 in 683 in Generation 6 and later.
What if my two Pokémon cannot breed?
The calculator shows breeding paths. These use one or two intermediate Pokémon that share egg groups with each side, so you can pass moves along a chain.
Pokémon Breeding Compatibility Checker and Guide
Which Pokémon can breed?
Two Pokémon can breed if they share at least one egg group and can be opposite genders. Pokémon in the Undiscovered group cannot breed, genderless Pokémon need Ditto, and Ditto works with anything that can breed. The calculator checks all of this and tells you why a pair does or does not work.
IV inheritance and the Destiny Knot
A baby inherits three IVs from its parents. A Destiny Knot raises that to five. Power items such as the Power Weight lock in one stat from the holder. The IV card shows the chance that each stat is inherited and the odds of a baby with zero to six perfect IVs.
Shiny odds and the Masuda method
Base shiny odds are 1 in 4,096 in recent games and 1 in 8,192 in older ones. Parents from different languages unlock the Masuda method, and the Shiny Charm adds more rolls. The calculator shows all four odds for the generation you pick.
Nature, ability, ball and egg moves
An Everstone passes a nature. The mother's ability and Poké Ball usually pass down. Egg moves must be known by a parent. If two Pokémon cannot breed directly, the paths section lists intermediate Pokémon that can bridge them. For IV checks on the baby, try the IV calculator.
