DATA & CREDITS

Where the Pokédex comes from.

Species and form data

Data is compiled from PokéAPI's source CSV files. The included snapshot contains 1,025 species and 1,351 Pokémon form entries, through Generation 9. It was retrieved on October 12, 2026.

The site serves that cached data as a static JSON file. It does not call the PokéAPI service for each visitor or result. The snapshot is refreshed by the operator, not automatically during browsing.

Artwork, sprites and cries

Artwork and animated sprites load from PokéAPI's sprites repository. Cries load from PokéAPI's cries repository. Some forms do not have every asset. Missing images fall back to a sprite where possible; missing audio shows a notice.

Entries and interpretation

English Pokédex entries are species-level text from the data source and may describe a different form. Generation uses species debut; origin regions are a derived mapping with explicit regional-form overrides. They are not game encounter lists.

Rights

Pokémon is the intellectual property of its respective owners. Artwork, names and sounds remain subject to those owners' rights. A public API or source-code license is not permission to commercialize Pokémon assets. The operator should seek legal advice before adding monetization.
