HOW IT WORKS

How the favorite Pokémon picker works

1

Pick your favorites each round

You see a batch of Pokémon at a time. Click the ones you prefer and press Pick. The ones you left out are eliminated, but only by the Pokémon you chose over them.

2

Smart rescue

Once your #1 is found, every Pokémon it beat comes back to fight for second place, then the winner of that group is #2, and so on. Your true #2 never gets knocked out early by your #1.

3

Your ranked list

The My Favorite Pokémon list fills in rank order. Keep going as long as you like, even all 1,025. Copy it or export it as a text file to share.

A fairer way to answer "who's your favorite Pokémon?"

Nobody can hold 1,025 species in their head at once. Asked directly, most people name whatever they played with most recently. Breaking the question into small batches fixes that: you never compare more than a handful of Pokémon at a time, so the answer at the end reflects your actual taste instead of your memory.

Filter the pool first if you already know the shape of the question. Ranking a single generation answers "favorite Kanto Pokémon". Ranking one type answers "favorite Dragon type". The full dex answers the big one.

Pair this with the other tools when you're done: build a team around your winner in the random team generator, or check how its typing holds up with the type randomizer. New to nicknames? The name generator has you covered.

Common questions

How does the favorite Pokémon picker work?

You see one batch of Pokémon at a time. Click every Pokémon you like in that batch, press Pick My Favorites, and the ones you chose join your ranked list while the rest leave the pool. Keep going until the pool is empty or stop whenever your list feels right.

Does my progress save?

Yes. The pool, your favorites and your options are saved in this browser after every round, so you can close the tab and continue later. Clearing your browser storage starts you over.

Can I rank Pokémon from only one generation or type?

Yes. Set the generation and type filters in the options panel and the pool rebuilds around them. Ranking just Kanto, or just Dragon types, works exactly the same way as ranking everything.

How do I share my favorite Pokémon list?

Use Copy list for a numbered text version ready to paste anywhere, or Export .txt to download it. The list keeps your ranking order.

Is the favorite picker free?

Completely. No account, no limits, and the full 1,025-species dex is included from the first batch.

About the Favorite Pokémon Picker

How the picker finds your favorite

Choosing a favourite from over a thousand Pokémon in your head is almost impossible. The picker breaks it into small rounds. You see a batch, click the ones you like and press Pick. The rest are out for now. When one Pokémon is left, it becomes your number one, and the picker starts again to find number two.

Why smart rescue matters

In a plain bracket, your true second favourite can lose to your first in round one and vanish. Smart rescue brings back everyone who lost to the winner, so the Pokémon you actually rank second still has a fair chance. That is why the list that builds on the right side is more accurate than a single elimination bracket.

Tips for better results

Start with a larger batch and pick generously. Use the category filter to rank only starters, legendaries or baby Pokémon. Go with your gut; you can always run it again. When you are done, copy the list, export it as text or CSV, or take your top pick into the compare tool to see how it stacks up against a rival.
